[...]Another indie-rock record that has fallen under the radar somewhat is Catcher's debut album, Light & Shadow. Their name inspired by J.D. Salinger's classic novel, The Catcher In The Rye, this St. John's group which features Trevor Bennett, James March, Sam Murphy and Zach Hall create a debut album that is most impressive, especially in its wide scope.
A tune like Again is almost epic in its approach, with a memorable piano melody throughout, while tunes like Catch Me If You Can, One Sixty and The Chase are an aggressive fusion of hard rock and intricate melodies. However, the highlight of this album is the acoustic Next Big Thing, where Bennett shows his impressive songwriting. Light & Shadow is an eye-opening soundspace of alternative music that will surprise you with its depth.
